Hello!

I recently upgraded my 515 51 53F2 with a new SSD Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB after my HDD died. I have to tell I'm so happy with its speed now. In the other hand, I wanna make ram upgrade too.

So, I'll for sure go dual ram. What are your suggestions for the best performance RAMS?! Also, should I upgrade to 2x8 or 2x16?

My processor is; i5-7300HQ. So I can't go more than DDR4-2400.

  • Hi,

If you have AN515-51, yes, your CPU supports frequency up to 2400MHz, you can upgrade up to 32GB but it may be an overkill, 16GB will be sufficient but if you think you will be using more than 16GB memory according to what you do, then install 32GB.

I don't do video editing or any other heavy graphics work. I'm mostly casual user and sometimes play a few video games. I think 2x8GB would be more than enough for me in this case. Thank you!

If you just want to add another DD4 8GB module to have 16GB total then install CPUz and look in this software's Memory and SPD section for your exact fitted OEM DDR4 8GB ram fitted to your laptop. Look at the manufacturer's name and part number and try to get the exact same ram module to add to your other memory module, to increase the OEM 8GB DDR4 to 16GB DDR4 same specs, as that is the best and most economical way to upgrade your ram.

If you want to upgrade to the max total of this laptops ram of 32GB max total (2x Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM - DDR4-2400 • CL=17 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8 • PC4-19200) then look at this Crucial Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51 RAM & SSD Upgrades scan as they suggest all the different combinations for every budget upgrades. Btw, Crucial guarantees their suggested memory scan to work with your laptop as and if you want the best/fastest compatible ram for gaming/editing etc then they suggest their top of the range "Crucial Ballistix SODIMM 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Gaming Memory (Black) - DDR4 PC4-25600 • CL=16 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR4-3200 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64 • that will be the top performing ram for your laptop. Those are your choices so choose whichever you want? Good luck and hope this helps you out as adding a faster ram in combination with the excellent Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB will increase your laptops performance even more and to its max performance ability, also make sure that you have all the latest OS updates and driver updates for your laptop.

This is the Acer suggested AN515-51 memory combos and OEM specs for your laptop:

One thing I don't understand. If my CPU processor supports only up to 2400 frequency memory, why they would put a ram in 2666 frequency?

I'm sorry if it is a dumb question but I really don't know.
