The fan of my Aspire S5-371-52UK is making a lot of rattling noise and often grinds to a halt. Help!

I've had my Aspire S since 2016 and for the past year the fan has been making a lot of noise.
It first started as normal rattling when the fan kicks in, then it started grinding to a stop very loudly and abruptly.
Sometimes the fan just kicks in, rattles, and keeps going. Other times (most of the time!) it ends up grinding and stopping then kicks in again and repeats.
I've tried opening it up to take a look at the fan but cannot open even when all 10 screws of the lower case are removed.
Please help! It's especially annoying at work when my laptop is grinding every few seconds in the office.

I had one with a lot of fan rattling and grinding noises for a very long time. After I took the cover off to inspect inside the laptop and to find nothing obvious, I unscrewed and disassembled the fan to find the blades were brushing up against metal corrosion that had built up in the fan case. Once I cleared/filed it away/off the very little clearance between the case and the blades, the noises went away.
