Swift SFX14-41G right side USB-A port broke - how can I get a replacement part?

My Swift SFX14-41G right side USB port plastic pin guides or whatever just fell away and now I think a pin has gotten bent. Looks like it's on a small board with the 3.5mm jack that should be very easily replaceable, but I can't find it anywhere based on quick searches for "USB audio board" (seems to be what they're commonly called) or the part number stamped on the board. Another thread seemed to indicate it is part no. 55.AB6N2.001, but I can't seem to find that either to confirm either way.

I've emailed Acer support but I've heard nothing back. My Acer warranty seems to have expired six months ago or so. I'm happy to pay for the part - I just can't find it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Maybe @JackE ? I'm in the US, if that matters.

There is no service guide available for your laptop that we can give you any info on this boards Acer Part numbers. Your only option is to contact or phone Acer in your area as this board is only from a new laptop and parts are not readily available on the web for your newer Swift SFX14-41G.

Your other option is to look up the actual port type that is broken and not the whole board as those ports should be readily available, as that is a better option and then, get an experienced micro soldering tech to refit the port, don't do it yourself as you will do more damage than fix this if you don't have the proper soldering tools

Look up on the web or on laptop parts specialists' sites for this part number first LS-L201P Rev: 1A as that should get you some relevant feedback, if not then keep searching that part number and the full listed number of GH4FZ LS-L201P Rev: 1A until you find one.

@StevenGen - thanks much for the reply. While it isn't what I hoped to hear, you provided some great information and advice that hopefully will help me get this fixed not long down the road. I really like this laptop a ton - way more than the XPS 15 it replaced. Fingers crossed they get these parts out there soon. Thanks again!

Look up the actual port and replace that as that is your best cheapest solution and the easiest to fix, even if the port is slightly different it will fit and do the same job as the Acer OEM port. That is what I would do or take it to an experienced tech that has these parts as these techs know and have these ports if they are any good.

You can also look at NorthbridgeFix parts and computer fix as they have a big range of ports that they sell, if they don't, then send them a photo of the actual broken port that you have and see if they suggest (if they don't, have it?) where you can buy this port from. Good luck and hope this helps you out, as its defiantly fixable.

@StevenGen Thanks for the follow up. I'd actually just reread your message shortly after my response and I was thinking "yeah, I should find someone who can just replace the port on the board and be done rather than wait - I've confirmed the audio and such still works great - it's just a physical issue with that USB port". Unfortunately, I don't know of any place to find a micro tech to do the soldering. Figured I'd swing by the Asurion shop in the next town, and I'll check out NorthbridgeFix as well.

There is a Service Guide available for your laptop, and the Acer part number for that part is 55.AB6N2.001.

@billsey This service guide is not publicly available, I guess? Or did I miss it somewhere? My searches on that part haven't turned anything up. Do you have a recommendation on a source? I'll add this to my notes, but right now it's still looking like I need to find a tech who can replace the USB port on the daughter board (or whatever you call these types of things).

Sorry the Acer SG's are not for sale as it's an inhouse doc, your laptop being a new model doesn't even have one available in house for us to access. Most manufacturers do not release their circuitry diagrams and SG's to the public at all as its their patented product.

Great. The photo and part number that you posted do look the same as the ones from the specsheets shown below. So you're probably fairly safe to order it by the part no. Thanks much. Interesting that mine has that little 5mm or so offshoot on the side. Maybe in the replacement parts they were able to shave that bit off the design.

Discrete plug-in components like this are generally made by several other manufacturers for different mainboards but with similar case designs, not just your particular model. So the board itself may have slight differences but mounting holes and port positions should line up and fit all the models using the same port part no.
