XB2743U - Color Settings - Noob

Member Posts: 2 New User

Hello, I have my first Acer Predator monitor, the XB273U. I am new to HDR gaming on my PC, so I have some settings I'm not really sure about.

The first thing I did was load the Acer color profile manually, along with the driver for Windows 10 manually. My video card is an NVIDIA 1070 using DisplayPort.

If I set my XB273U to Standard color, the colors are very saturated, so I thought sRGB looked better. If I switch Windows HDR on, the screen gets all washed out and not normal looking.

Only if I set the XB2743U to HDR color, then the Windows HDR settings looks good.

With games, it seems like some need the Windows HDR setting enabled like Call of Duty WW2. Some games do not display proper gamma and cannot be adjusted if I leave Windows HDR mode on, such as Terminator Resistance.

I was wondering what settings you use for this type of monitor? It seems there will always be something that needs toggled to look proper.

Its not the XB2743U its the XB273U as there is no such model as the XB2743U. Have a look at this guide as it explains it very well "Acer Predator XB273U GX (270Hz 1440p)" and also look here "Acer predator XB273U GX tips?" as all these guides should give you more than enough info of how to set the XB273also update the GTX-1070 driver to the latest and make sure that all previous GTX-1070 drivers are deleted, use the Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 18.0.5.4 to uninstall all previous versions of drivers on your system before you install the last NVIDIA GTX-1070 driver. Also, if you place black boost above 8, you’ll get screen retention. It’s a glitch that can easily be avoided so that’s a heads up.

@StevenGen thank you for the comments and tips. I was able to use the driver cleaner to make sure everything was cleared out.

I am still curious as to what actual settings I should use, as the video goes over them, but doesn't really say "here is the optimal setup for most situations." Unless I missed something?

  • Try the other presets to see if it looks okay. I'm not sure about your OSD but in this Acer XF270HU the OSD has a color tab and in it you can change "temperature" where there are warm, cool, blue light, and user options, so try that. Otherwise use and change the color settings. If it looks too yellow, try increasing blue and decreasing red and green. Play around with it a bit.
