Update corrupted motherboard

My son has a two-year old nitro 5 laptop. He did a windows update four days ago. The laptop shut and won't power back on. We took it to a local computer store to run diagnostics and they tell me the motherboard has been corrupted (no issues with the power cord or charger). I can't believe an update would cause a two-year old laptop to die. If so, then there is something really bad about this product. How can I get someone at acer at talk to me? I called support but since the warranty is up, they just transfer me to a company that sells parts. I would like to know how this can happen on a relatively new laptop?

Your son probably and 99% chance that he allowed the optional firmware/bios Insyde update to be installed from Win-10 update, which is a big mistake as those updates crash Acer laptops like Nitro 5's and should never ever be done as for the life pf me, I can't understand why Microsoft dishes these bios and gpu firmware updates? There is no way that your motherboard is corrupted or beyond repair, as in future make sure that all these gpu firmware and bios ARE ONLY DONE from the Acer Drivers & Manuals site for your laptop. Take or send your laptop to Acer Support in your area or a real technician that can recover the bios and fix this laptop for your son to be operational as the tech that you took this laptop to didn't check for a corrupted bios and didn't diagnose this laptop fully . Btw, don't try to do this yourself as it needs expertise and experience to reflash a corrupted bios.

    (1) Ask your son precisely what kind of Windows update he did? Or was it perhaps a Windows 11 upgrade from Windows 10? Often a no-no. Or perhaps an optional Windows update? Also often a no-no.

    (2) What is the full nitro 5 model series numbers? For example, AN515-21? Or maybe AN515-44? There are dozens of nitro 5 model series.

thank you for this explanation. Yes, it was windows 10. Acer support in Canada is not helping because the warranty is up (purchased January 2021), but I will try again. Although I know nothing about computers, I did feel the tech's response "replace the motherboard" was too simplistic and wondered if I should get a second opinion...which is what led me to find this chat. thank you.
