Hi, i have a problem with my laptop, i changed my old disk drive (ssd m.2 sata III of 240gb, kingston) to a new one (Kingston A2000 of 480gb) but the pc doesn't recognize when i install windows 10, in the first tries the BIOS detected but not the Windows, i changed the Sata mode to AHCI MODE, i used the default settings in BIOS, instaling with a pendrive....and nothing.

my question is, the ssd i bought is not compatible with this model? or it is broken? there's another option who i can use?

This last image is the latest try that i made and this is the result.... :C
i already used this https://www.diskpart.com/articles/windows-wont-install-on-ssd-4348i.html but doesn't work for me.

See this guide Install Windows 10 on M.2 SSD Drive and follow that exactly of how to fit this M.2 SSD and do a clean install of Win-10 but, remember that your new Kingston A2000 M.2 SSD is an NVMe PCIe Gen 3.0 x 4 Lanes which is not recommended by Acer for your Aspire A314-22 as this M.2 could be or could not be compatible with your A314-22 and that is why its not recognised? Also and remember that if this new M.2 drive is compatible? Your new Kingston A2000 M.2 SSD will only work at 50% of its performance capabilities as your Aspire A314-22 drive is designed for a max PCIe Gen3 x2 Lane type M.2 and your new Kingston A2000 M.2 SSD is an NVMe PCIe Gen 3.0 x 4 Lanes M.2

Btw, below are the Acer specs and recommended PCIe Gen3 x2 Lane M.2 SSD’s fitted to your Aspire A314-22. Also as far as drive capacities is concerned, use the Windows MBR/Legacy to GPT/UEFI formatting rules, as you can put higher capacities drives then listed below e.g. MBR/Legacy formatted drives can only handle drives up to 2TB in capacities. Goodluckandhope thishelps.

Thank you for the help, i'm gonna try that tutorial
Oh and i made a mistake, the ssd i bought is a KINGSTON a400, in the picture is the one i have
My PC is Sata III, and the original 240gb is kingston too, but multiple pages says a samsung model only work in my type of PC.

  • The service tab does not tell you if this model is compatible with ssd m2 2280 sata 3. Can you check if the ssd appears in the bios info tab?

    Hi,
Yes, you need M.2 NVMe SSD as @egydiocoelho said, I couldn't find anyone installed a M.2 SATA SSD in this model.

I'am having a similar problem with an Acer Aspire 3 A-315-31-C6MI

I've replicated the Toshiba drive it came with and it' recognised in the BIOS but doesn't show on a Windows 10 Install/Recovery USB, but it does show up on other LINUX-based drive management utitlies (ARCHLINUX-UEFI-April 2022 Release). Here are the empirical findings:

Intel SSD (SATA SSD) shows in Information section of BIOS as HDD0:

    All SATA Ports are enabled:

Supervisor Password is set to allow temporary disable of Secure Boot:

    Drive shows in Boot Menu:

Command Prompt invoked from Windows 10 install media downloaded on this laptop from Microsoft:

DISKPART in Command Prompt doesn't list the disk and Aspire 3 won't attempt to boot from it?!

UEFI presents disk and partitions normally to Linux Kernel as /dev/sda (Disk 0) the only variation are the UUIDs and PARTUUIDs of the partitions, can the UEFI discriminate that between operating systems so selectively, what would be the purpose of such a discrimination?:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Arch Linux sees the disk when Microsoft doesn't!

Why doesn't a standard SATA device that appears in the BIOS refuse to boot on an Acer Aspire 3? I've done this procedure on 100s of laptops and desktop computers without incident.
