Same problem. New Aspire A515-56 notebook. Upgraded to Windows 11 Home at first boot.
    • Facial Recognition in settings is showing unavailable. "Could not find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face"
    • No Biometrics container exists in Device Manager, even with Show Hidden Devices and after Scan for Hardware Changes
    • Attempted to update driver for HD User Facing camera and was on current version. No other camera drivers present.
    • C:\Windows\System32\WinBioPlugins\FaceDriver folder is not present, therefore there is no HelloFace.inf file to execute
    • Installed/unlocked Group Policy console and navigated to Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Biometrics and enabled Allow Use of Biometrics and Allow Users to log on using Biometrics
    • Navigated to C:\Windows\WinSxS and there is no folder for amd_microsoft-windows-hello to reinstall from
Is there a resolution for this?

Windows Hello Face requires an infrared camera, which your laptop model doesn't have.

Thanks for solving this for me. It goes back tomorrow. Acer says this is compatible with Windows 11 which does not use passwords. That's not exactly what I would call compatible.

90% of new laptops don't have infrared camera.

It has nothing to do with windows 11 compatibility. 100% of desktop PC don't come with Webcam.

Hello Face requires a webcam that has infrared features. You have a webcam, but not the special types required for Face. Your fingerprint reader should be working though, what's going on with it?

BTW windows 11 can use a local account and password or PIN. Just not easy.

Most probably the issue is encountered when the webcam is not compatible with Windows Hello. However, if the webcam was compatible but still you are facing this issue, then the drivers is the reasons behind it. You can follow our guide to fix Facial Recognition not working on your PC.
