Your Predator PO7-640 comes with a 800W power supply, so you should be able to install any of the GPUs that run in that power budget. To install a higher end GPU you will need to also replace the PSU with a bigger one. A lot of the power budget for a GPU is in the amount of memory installed...

If you go HERE, you can find the measurements of most graphics cards ever made. Of course you need to measure your current card first so that you can see which are smaller or larger than what you have now. You need to pay attention to number of required PCIe power cables and how many pins their connectors have.
I'm sorry but I find your reasoning to buy a back up card just in case a bit strange. If your GPU dies within a year or two (depending on where you live), you RMA it and get a replacement card. If the card dies outside of warranty, then is the time to look for a replacement card.
Most likely nothing will happen to your 3080. In my opinion, money tied down on a replacement card is money badly spent. If something happened to the card after your warranty period, and that is a big if, by then you can get a newer card to replace the old one. As you must know if you follow tech news at all, NVIDIA and AMD are just about to release their next gen GPUs.

Note that the PO7-640 has two GPU slots, so a second 3080 would allow for more monitors...

This top of the line variant has an Nvidia RTX 3090, 12th Gen Intel Core i9, 32GB DDR5-4000 and a PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD (upgradeable to PCIe 5.0).0

Then you should be good to go for pretty much any card that will physically fit.
1300W is way more than even the highest power cards require, even with both GPU slots populated. You'll have to post some benchmarks if you go with something like dual 3090s or 3090 Tis...

As we posted in your other threads, the 3080 should be fine. I'm not sure where you're getting your information because Acer already offers a p07-640 with the 3080 GPU.

Simply get another identical 1080 10GB if you want a backup. Because if you're looking for a 100% certainty for any other recommendations you might get on these user forums from anyone, including myself, you're not going to get a 100% certainty. Sorry.
