What is the Nitro model number e.g. AN515-XX? It seems to me that you have imaged the 2.5" drive and you didnt connect the drive properly into its SATA mobo plug hence and why your Nitro wont boot. These Nitro laptops SATA mobo plug are very poorly made and can have lots of connection problems as Ive got a new Nitro 5 and I cant connect a 2nd 2.5" drive to its SATA plug at all as when I do I get the saame as you, the laptop wont boot no matter how I connect the 2nd 2.5" drive, so Im using this drive as an external drive which I prefer anyway.

Press and hold power button till laptop shuts off. Then turn it back on an IMMEDIATELY start tapping the F2 key to enter the BIOS menu. Plwase post a phone photo of the BIOS INFORMATION tab if possible.

  • Are you still having trouble connecting a 2.5" hard drive @stevengen?

egydiocoelho yes I cant connect my Seagate Barracuda 2TB 2.5" to the SATA mobo plug, I've tried everything and whenever I connect the sata cable the laptop refuses to turn on, I've even bought a new sata cable and it still does not connect. I've given up as I've got an external Case/USB 3.0 cable and I'm using this 2.5" drive as an external drive which is very slow on CrystalDiskMark and runs at like 300 read write but its ok. IMO Its the actual sata mobo plug that is flimsy and a very cheap plug setup and doesn't lock the flat sata cable into the plug properly, hence it does not make a proper connection and never worked from new. I can send this to Acer under warranty but its not an important thing as I'm happy to use this drive as an external drive as its only for my personal backups. I've tried to install the IRS drive but that didn't work, if you have any other suggestions I will be happy to try them out, cheers

    Hello
    1) I Tried to start the laptop by connecting the hard disk externally not working

    2) I tried to open the bios version by clicking F2 doesn't work the laptop shuts down after a click noise from the disk

Could this be a hard disk failure??

This could be due to a frozen bios or a Super IO that is a chip that dictates all commands of your laptop and even bios functionality. Try to take the main battery out and the bios battery out and leave them disconnected for a few minutes and then reconnect them and see if the laptop boots and you can get into the bios screen, as its very unusual that the bios and the laptop does not boot after even using the HDD as an external drive as that is a sign of different problems with your laptop like I've listed above or power issues.

Maybe. Temporarily disconnect the disk. Button back up. Try to enter the BIOS again by tapping F2 on startup. If it still shuts down, temporarily remove a RAM module too. Try it again.

Either the RAM modules has failed or its gold colored contacts need to be cleaned up.

I've also had this problem with a 2.5" HDD on my AN515-56 (try egydiocoelho solutions above) when I connected a secondary drive to the mobo SATA plug, and the laptop refused to boot. Try pressing Ctrl+S in the main tab of the bios, to check if a function called SATA MODE or VMD CONTROLLER appears, as the VDM controller often interferes with some HDD's and SSD's.

    As your issues of:
    1) I Tried to start the laptop by connecting the hard disk externally not working
    2) I tried to open the bios version by clicking F2 doesn't work the laptop shuts down after a click noise from the disk

Is a bios or super IO related as no other chips control these functions in your laptop, to unfreeze a bios (if its not damaged) take the bios battery out (see captions of bios battery and Super IO below for your laptop) then reconnect the bios battery after 5 min as that also resets the Super IO if its not damaged? But if its a Super IO chip problem then that chip needs replacing as the Super IO dictates all functionalities of your pre boot process and to your bios chip, so have the bios and the Super IO chips checked out by an experienced tech that knows and has all the tools to diagnose your problem, because the Super IO and the bios is a programed chip that you can purchase from a specialist place on the web, try here on eBay as they have bios chips and Super IO chips like this one for your laptop "Programmed KB9022Q D Super IO Chip for Acer Nitro 5 AN515 AN517 FH51M LA-J871P" but this has to be diagnosed and replaced by an experienced tech that has all the micro soldering tools as you can't do this yourself.

You can certainly try to clean the gold contacts on the RAM module by rubbing them gently with a soft cloth. Then reseating the module a few times by repeatedly inserting them at an angle, then pressing it flat against the mainboard. This also helps clean the wire contacts inside the mainboard RAM socket.
