I was hoping to upgrade my laptop and it's getting too slow for day-to-day work.

Judging from your model's using i5 4th generation Intel CPU, I don't think M.2 SSD was available when it hit the market. M.2 mSATA may be possible, but no advantage over 2.5" SATA3 SSD performance wise.

However, upgrading to a 2.5" SATA3 SSD can improve your PC's performance greatly, definitely worth to upgrade. Also, check Task Manager Performance Tab to see if the RAM usage exceeded 90%, otherwise a SATA3 SSD will not help much.

I'm using i7 4th gen. Does your advice still apply to this unit? Thank you!

Yes, i5 or i7 4th generation came out around the same time. That should appy for both.

Have you checked Task Manager yet?

@chubbar your model doesn't have M.2 slot or mSATA slot. You can just replace the HDD with the 2.5inch SSD
Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

Yes, I have. I need to add more GB with my ram too. Will it be okay if I'll replace them with two 16GB ram? Thank you for your advice!

I think the maximum RAM is probably 16 GB for your laptop.

To check maximum RAM for your laptop:

In Windows Powershell, type: wmic memphysical get maxcapacity

The numbers returned will be in Kilobytes
