i NEED HELP in finding a correct monitor for my daughter's Acer Aspire One. She dropped it and now it only blips with lines and streaks. I have plugged in a standard monitor and can access the computer that was so it seems that the only damage is the screen and monitor. There are so many choices out there I am lost. This laptop is running Win 8 and is NOT a Chrome machine.
I bought it at Wal-mart before they changed these Acer's to Chrome run.

I can't find anything to reference which one I should purchase. This is a laptop and very tiny. (In my standards)

It looks like Acer sourced those displays from a few different places. The part numbers for them are: LK.11605.009, LK.11605.007 & LK.1160D.006. Any of those will work, they are essentially identical.

    Hi all
Not sure if anyone can help, but thought I'd put this out there, and hope for the best....

I purchased a used Acer Aspire One D255.
The thing 'looked brand new.  The box was intact, the instructions were still in their shrinkwrap….

Got it home, and discovered that:

    a) the battery does not seem to be charging...the person that I bought it from swears that it was charging last time their parents used it, a "long time ago".  I'm wondering if there is a setting that is set incorrectly, or maybe the battery is just shot.

    b) there are several websites that I am unable to get to.  I keep on getting error messages that refer back to 'security protocols', and tell me to contact the 'system administrator' (me)….

The tablet is running windows XP, it is 1gb ram.

I have disabled windows firewall and other security software.
I know it is not a problem with my home network, as I have several other computers (including one much older laptop, running XP, that I am able to access my banking on) that run perfectly fine.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!!

Your Aspire One D255 is an old laptop that has the Intel Atom N550 and the problem is its Intel GMA 3150 graphics refresher rate, that is not high enough for todays browsing, that is why "several websites that I am unable to get to" as its graphics are just not good enough. Try Win 7 basic not Win-XP as its obsolete and with 1GB of ram that you can upgrade to 2GB its still will be not enough for this laptop to work in todays web environments.

Take it from me as I've got a newer Aspire One Happy2 with the Intel Atom N570 and the same graphics (that I bough years ago for my wife) and its just a paper weight, as I've tried and have upgraded this laptop to 2GB ram and with a 2.5" Samsung EVO 850 SSD drive and even replaced its Wi-Fi 2.4 only to a Wi-Fi/BT card that works and it still had problems with handling allot of browsing sites and especially the refresher rates of allot of sites graphics in Win-7 basic, as I've also tried Win-10 Home and that made it virtually impossible and slow as a snail.
