Today I was playing a video game and when I was trying to plug in my charger for my laptop I realized that my laptop wouldn’t charge. I could still play on my laptop, my laptop was perfectly fine, it was like nothing happened at all and it was just a normal laptop except that once the battery percentage was at 0 i couldn’t go on it anymore because it would not charge when i plugged the charger in. I clicked the power button and it turned on for a second to say low battery. Is the problem my laptop or charger? (the laptop i have is acer nitro 5 AN515-55) Do i just buy a new charger or is something wrong with my laptop?

Try to do the usual consumer power reset things, turn off the laptop, press the power key for 15 seconds, then open the back cover and undo its 11 screws, pry the back cover off, also wear an anti static wrist band before touching any internal circuitry components (to stop any static damaging internal circuitries) disconnect the battery and the CMOS bios battery, leave both batteries disconnected for 5 min and then plug both batteries back and put everything together, then and before you power on the laptop, plug the charger/adaptor plug into the back charging port of the laptop and see if both lights come on before you power on the laptop. See if that works?

As all the above should fix your power on and charging problems as the AN515-55 is only a new laptop and its adaptor/charger and battery should work 100%. If not check the adaptors charging voltages (negative is the outside part of the plug and positive is the internal part of the plug) this should have an output voltage of around 19V to 19.5V also check that the DC in side port plug is making 100% contact and the actual port is not damaged in any way, as and if all that is ok and your laptop is the same then its an internal components charging/power issue that needs diagnosing by either Acer or an experience technician that has all the tools and experience in diagnosing/changing and resoldering micro components as it could be a capacitor, mosat at the laptops primary 3.3V power supply board section which you can't fix.
