Travelmate P2 TMP214-52 screen causes eye pain

I've never had this with any other laptop or desktop monitor, but after about 5 minutes looking at the screen on my new Acer laptop my eyes start to feel blasted. I've tried setting the brightness to minimum but it doesn't help. The screen resolution is the same as other laptops I've used with no ill effects. Could it be something to do with the screen refresh rate?

Grateful for any suggestions, because at the moment I'm finding the laptop practiacally unusable.

We need to determine whether it is a hardware or software issue.

Try f2 while turning on the computer.   It will go to bios.    Please check whether the display is looking good on bios.

If it is a software issue try the following the steps..

    Try windows x
    go to device manager
    expand display adapter
right click on display driver - uninstall
    Restart the computer

    It should work fine..

If it is still not working
Uninstall the display adapter from device manager
    Don’t restart the computer.
    Go to support.acer.com
    chose your country
type snid or chose your model
    go to drivers
    Install the display driver

    It should work fine.

Please try to connect a external monitor to your laptop and check whether the display is looking good on external monitor.

Thanks for these very helpful suggestions. I'll try them out over the next days (but just now I'm still trying to give my eyes a rest).

There isn't a lot that special about your display, it's running at a normal 60Hz refresh rate so shouldn't flicker more than any other display. You can try adjusting the brightness down or turning on Windows' night light mode (System; Display; Night Light) to reduce the blue.
