Question about SSD vs HDD temperature for people who've swapped their 2.5 SATA HDD for SSD AN515-54.

Which one has higher temperature? For reference my 2.5 HDD has 45-50C when used for gaming.

For Nitro 5 users only please or specifically AN515-54. People who have similar models and have swapped out their 2.5" HDD for 2.5" SSD can also answer ❤

Some SSDs run much hotter than HDDs. Which SSD did you get?

Aren't those the NVMe ones? I'm planning to get Crucial MX500 which is a 2.5" SATA SSD

The MX500 series runs hot ( nearly 80*C) under peak read/write operations.  If would probably run a bit warmer than your HDD in the way you use it. If it was mine, I'd probably go for the WesternDigital blue series which runs about 10*C cooler under similar peak loads.

I'm just gonna use it as secondary drive to play games

I really don't think you need to worry about SSD or HDD temperatures under any circumstances.  However, all you need to know is that the recommended  WD SSD runs cooler than the MX500 under any circumstances.

Well what if the 2.5" SSD has high temperature in Nitro 5 and it reduces its lifespan? That's what I want to know, surely there are people here who've swapped out the HDD that came with the laptop with an SSD of the same size and slot (SATA). About WD Blue, the price is almost 2x Crucial MX500 lol. I thought MX500 was one the highly regarded SATA SSDs, comparable to Samsung EVOs' SATA.

@ynwa1227 I have the model AN515-54 with the Samsung 870 EVO 2.5 inch SATA SSD upgrade. I tested with the game Cyberpunk and the temperature for the 2.5inch SSD is around 45-49C (CPU is around 85C and GPU is 70C). So I think the MX500 might be less or equal temperature while gaming.

This is NOT scientifically or technically proven fa ct. Where did you get these ideas? Did you read some anecdotal evidence on the internet and believe it must be true?

The crucial and western digital blues should be similar in price tor the same size and capacity. Where are you shopping?

I said "what if", and which 'fact' are you talking about? You're being aggressive and condescending for no reason 😵

"Did you read some anecdotal evidence on the internet and believe it must be true?" what did I do that makes you think that? 😵

    Yikes

I was talking about SSD that operates at high temperature have reduced lifespan (for the SSD). You're being aggressive and condescending for no reason 😵

@ynwa1227 hey please calm down, don't tell or say that word to him as you might get a ban. We are just normal people so we sometimes can make a mistake that could either be little or big. Just forgive and correct someone if he tells something wrong that you don't agree with it.
@JackE please don't try to ask the user with this voice because this can be easily misunderstood and raise that user's anger.

Your comments suggested that you've been reading anecdotal internet evidence like the links you just posted. They have little or no relevance to your situation in which the main heat concerns are overwhelmingly from CPU/GPU intensive usage.

@ynwa1227 okay please you can avoid saying that for now. This violates the ACUA which can result in a ban.
The MX500 that he is saying about is the M.2 form factor, which I think can be easily overheated in the situation where it has no heatsink, exposed to hot ambient temperature, especially near the CPU cooler. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/crucial-mx500-m-2-1-tb/7.html
I don't confirm this result is true since this post doesn't mention the CPU temps or ambient case temperature.
The MX500 2.5-inch will be much lower than this because it has an external casing.
