Flickering Monitor

Hello,

I have an Inspiron 7591 2n1 and an Acer LCD Monitor.  Both my laptop and monitor flicker from time to time.  I don't necessarily have to use the ACER monitor with my laptop, but it is helpful.  Can someone help me?  It is annoying to get the disruption occasionally from the flickering of monitors. Thank you.

    If they both flicker, then the inspiron's GPU is suspect. Does the laptop still have the same Dell factory Windows version installed?

    My laptop is Windows 10.  Yes, they both flicker at the same time.  I've noticed that when I used my work laptop and Phillips monitor, there was no flickering of screens.  So, I had my laptop in the middle and on either side Phillip's brand monitor and Acer brand on the opposite sides.  I've since removed my work laptop and now using my own personal Dell laptop with one additional monitor (Acer), and now I get the flickering.

    So are you saying that both work laptop & your Dell only flicker when connected to the ACER monitor using the same cable that you use for the Phillips monitor?

    Yes, that's correct.  I'm no longer using the Phillip's Monitor or my work-assigned laptop as of Thursday (never had the flickering issue).  However, not that I'm only using my personal Dell laptop + Acer monitor, now there's the flickering issue.  I googled it and may be caused by display drivers.  I'm afraid to possibly mess my laptop up because I don't actually know what I'm doing.  Thank you, JackE!

    Don't be afraid. Video driver updates are reversible. Just open Control Panel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in left pane. In the box that pops up, just make sure System Protection is turned on.

    Then go to this link. Choose your Windows version. Then download and run the urgent nvidia and intel video EXE updates. If they don't work out, you can always restore the original drivers thru the Control Panel restore point app or thru Device Manager.
