Hi guys,

I'm trying to stop my Laptop from PL1 | PL2 throttling. Thermal throttling isn't an issue anymore after re-pasting with Liquid Metal and cleaning everything proper.

- ThrottleStop settings are very good
- Laptop is UnderVolted with -250mV CPU Core and -133.8mV CPU Cache and stable
- "Disable and Lock Power Turbo Limits" is activated and PL1 (65W) and PL2 (80W) limits are set

I have good temps with CPU and GPU (under load and fans NORMAL) 80°C CPU and 70°C GPU @3.8GHz. BUT it's power throttling (and EDP other at Ring) so I  still have micro stuttering while gaming.

Sometimes PL1 | PL2 limits are overwritten (65W & 80W & 128sec) and accepted by ThrottleStop. But most times it's using default values even with PL1 | PL2 changed in ThrottleStop.

I know that Acer locks PL1 | PL2 values but even with BIOS Unlock I can't overwrite the limits (even MMIO shows 65/80/128 and still throttling).

Is there any chance to bypass Acer Power Limit lock?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day,

Any hidden BIOS options to bypass or otherwise change settings in each tab would be revealed by pressing  the Ctrl+S combo. Anything outside of these possible hidden options, are in the realm of undocumented mods that are usually unavailable on these forums.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately that doesn't answer the question if there are possibilites to bypass the hard locked Acer power limit :) have a nice day!

Sorry, if Ctrl+S doesn't reveal anything, then it might only be possible with an undocumented BIOS mod. :) Thanks. Have a nice day yourself.

See this Acer community thread "Is it possible to unlock power limit of GPU of acer predator helios 500 (i7 8750H + gtx 1070)?" here as its been covered before but its complicated and needs a bios mod which needs experience and if done wrong it will damage your bios chip and brick your laptop.

I already have an unlocked Insyde BIOS so that’s not the problem 😄

the Problem is even with defined settings in BIOS I still sometimes have the PL1 and PL2 limits.

It’s like my laptop is gambling..

    P.S:
The BIOS unlock is not complicated if you’re knowing what you’re doing! Even with a unsuccessful BIOS flash you’re mostly (proper bios backup) able to recover and re-flash your BIOS with a SOP8-Clip & CH341A programmer 😉
