My TravelMate 8573T won't boot. The lights go on and the fan starts, but the screen stays black. I've tried taking battery and AC out and holding down the power button to no avail. It's running on Windows 7 x64.

back. There are several possible explanations.

    1) Your rig might be in sleep or Hibernation mode. Turn it off, unplug it, and remove the battery. Hold down the Start Button at least fifteen seconds and turn it back on. I think you did this, but some other folks might benefit from this info.

    2) It could be your monitor. Try plugging in an external monitor.

    3) Try to start in Safe Mode. This reminds me: find out how to start in Safe Mode NOW, before you need it.

I'm afraid that if none of these work, you probably need to take it to a repair shop.

No dice. Smiley Sad I saw that this sometimes happens with Aspires and it has something to do with BIOS? Could it be similar to that?
