Hey. I have an weird issue on my screen, when I hover on something by my mouse there are some blank pixels appear. I tried to update the display adapter to the latest version but sadly nothing changed :( .
Product type: Swift SF314-59
Video for the problem : https://gyazo.com/254acbbf9e1df6b7ab4927d611776e11

"More details" :
- I also tried to download an older version of driver but that causes shadows on my screen.
- I also changed my screen recently so I don't think the fixer will do anything about this problem.

Browsers probably won't work properly in safe mode anyway. You aren't the only one who has graphics issues with this latest crop of Cr browsers. Some other models with 8GB RAM are consistently crashing with error messages suggesting that even more RAM is needed to avoid crashing.

As mentioned earlier,  if you perceive that the Cr browsers have smoother and better UIs, then you might have to live with their display peculiarities for now or until the developers address the issue with updates. Meanwhile, use FireFox whenever artifact-free browsing is desired or needed. Sorry, but this tradeoff seems like the only workaround right now.

How many tabs or browser pages do you have open at  the same time? And how many apps? Too many and you start getting persistence artifacts like those with a GPU using shared memory. The RGB pixels aren't blank. They all seem full on to me. And after a few milliseconds, only the G pixels are mostly full on like the rest of the ask a question button.

@JackE I'm just using Chrome and I'm opening 2-3 tabs at most and this problem occurs in different websites like twitter and youtube, and it appears for all colors. It's little strange I rarely use my laptop for gaming how can youtube and the other websites exhauste the GPU? The usage of GPU always 10-15%. I'm just surprised. Is there any solution?

Are you using a custom mouse pointer? It sounds like the pointer isn't getting refreshed as often as it should...

Does FireFox or Edge show same artifacts?

  • Does this issue also occur when you enable safeboot with networking?

@JackE I checked Firefox quickly and it looks great the buttons working well and the pixels disappeared. The problem maybe from Google Chrome. But what should I do?

@egydiocoelho What is the "Safeboot" and how can I use it?

Run msconfig and use the Boot tab to set Safe Mode and Networking. That will boot the system to Windows, but not load any third party apps, yet allow network access. It's a great tool for testing to see if an issue is created by one of those third party apps or drivers.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, that is likely to fix it if the issue is with the Chrome install itself.

Don't bother with SafeBoot since it was only for hardware troubleshooting. Your hardware is fine when the persistence artifacts disappear using FireFox. Chrome is a notorious resource hog. If it was my machine, I'd use FireFox. And use Chrome only when I absolutely need it for something FireFox can't do....yet. :)

Press windows+r, type msconfig, go to system startup, enable safe boot with networking and restart windows:]

Microsoft Edge is an alternate to FireFox. Should already be installed on your system. It's a bit different UI than most browsers. Ir has the same extensions as Chrome since its based on ChromiumOS. However, Edge uses less RAM than Chrome. But FireFox uses even less. It's about the best of the traditional browsers. Works well with modest integrated graphics like you have with 8GB RAM.

As mentioned earlier, Chrome is a resource pig. Video might work better with more shared RAM. But your laptop's RAM is soldered to the mainboard and can't be increased. You might try to download and install iobit's DriverBooster freeware driver tool to see if it can pick up any better drivers to cut down on Chrome's graphics artifact.

DriverBooster tries to find better  graphics drivers on line. If you want me to look at any suggestions that it makes, just post a screenshot file of its results by clicking on the Attach Image icon.

Not too surprising since Edge is based on Chrome. They're both resource pigs compared to FireFox. At least you know that it is a software issue. Not hardware. There are other more efficient alternatives but none as efficient as FireFox. You can try Opera or Vivaldi.

I suggest that you try Opera and Vivaldi before you start testing other drivers. Ultimately there might be tradeoffs with your model because of its graphics/display limitations. If you want your perception of what's a smoother browser with a betterUI then you might have to accept its display artifacts. You also might want to test an external HDMI display to see if you still get the artifacts since this would mean the laptop's own LCD screen might be contributing to the artifacts.
