Keyboard not working System Model TravelMate P259-G2-MG

I have 3 of the same laptops and they all had their keyboards stop working days apart from each other. I can use an external keyboard but only the power button is the one working on all three laptops with no keyboard access at boot, in bios and when windows boots to the login screen.

Have tried uninstalling drivers and turning of filter with no success.

Is there another solution?

    (1) What drivers?
    (2) What filter?

I don't see any previous instructions or fault reports here that you're referring to. Since more than one machine had this same issue, open Control Panel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a system restore point' in left pane. If System Protection is turned on, click the System Restore button. Click next. Choose the automatic restore point with a date stamp that coincides with when the issue started.

    Hi @Mitiore,

On your keyboard on the Function Keys (F1 - F12) you should see the symbol shown below, tap that key or Fn + that key to toggle the backlit keyboard, I think on your Model, it is the F9 key . . . Power to the Developer!

If you can get into the BIOS at least one key is working at that point. Can you pin it down to which keys are working and which not? Drivers and such only affect things when an OS is loaded, so the BIOS is the best way to test for hardware issues.

I regret to inform the keyboard does not work in the bios also, inlcuding the power button. I have taken it to supplier to try and resolve issue for now or replace with lenovos.

    Hi,

I have the same problem : back in the end of 2019 my compagny bought 11 TravelMate P259-G2-M and last week 3 of them has the keyboard stopping working. Only the power on/off button. Workds fine with an external keyboard.

I have updated the BIOS to the latest without result ; if someone have a clue ?

Greetings from France (sorry for my english)

last week 3 of them has the keyboard stopping working.

Search start menu 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' near the top of the menu. If System Protection is turned on in the box that pops up, click System Restore button. Click next. Do you see an automatic update restore point with a date stamp sometime last week?
