As I said above, it died during the setup configuration. I thought it was plugged in, but apparently not. I have it plugged it in right now, but it won't turn on. The light shows that it's charging too. What should I do?

After purchasing a new laptop computer or battery for your laptop, we recommend the battery be charged for no less than 24-hours. A 24-hour charge makes sure the battery is full and helps with the battery's life expectancy. Once it is fully charged, you should not discharge it fully, if possible.

Please try the basic steps first, doing the power drain should really help.
Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug the charger cable, devices or any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, you can find a  pinhole. It is a tiny hole. You can find a battery symbol indicator next to the hole. It is like a + and - sign symbol as though somebody is trying to shift the battery out. Insert the pin onto the hole for 30 seconds. Remove the pin. Flip the laptop. Connect the charger cable, turn on the laptop.

Yeah, that's a problem. My model doesn't appear to have a pinhole (AN515-55-53E5)

If your model doesn't have a reset button, unplug it then hold down the power button for 12 seconds, let it sit for 15 mins then plug in and boot up. If it doesn't help, please contact Acer support in your region.

    Now Im getting really confused..
I took off the back and checked around, then decided to press the power button while the back was off. The screen actually turned on and was in the log-in screen, so apparently the setup was complete. But when I put the cover back on, its not turning on. Maybe it's actually on, but the screen is black?

I took the cover back off and its working again. The cover definitely has something to do with this

There was a time in the past that turning off the power during an operating system software update, could cause irreversible damage to the system. You would end up with a scrambled mess of some new files, and some old files, plus possibly also the data storage structures could be partially written and unusable.

Maybe just a loose Screen connection on the Motherboard?

Do check if the LCD connector is properly connected to the Motherboard.
