The 7730, 7730G, 7730Z and 7730ZG all support the same CPUs, Here is what's listed in the SG:
As can be seen here the T9900 is in the same family as the T9600 and has the same TDP, so it should be a drop in replacement, though you do need the socketed version.

Yes the top of the range Aspire 7730G came with the Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 (Socket P) CPU and 4GB (2x 2GB DDR-1066Mhz) memory SATA2 spinner HDD and an MSI VGA Card nVidia NB9P-GS DDRIII 512M 800MHz 32*32 MXM II w/ HDCP w/ Intersil PowerIC” GPU card that is interchangeable, but your Aspire 7730 came with a different motherboard like the “MAINBOARD UMA GM45 ICH9 GL DDR2 W/CARD REEADER W/O CPU RAM LF” that came with DDR2 memory. If you want to upgrade this laptop I would run the Crucial System Scanner to see what is the max memory and 2.5” SSD’s you can run on this laptop.

Note that replacing the CPU will not go very far toward making the laptop faster. You will get a much bigger boost by replacing the HDD with a SSD with memory upgrades coming in a distant second.
