Hello dear reader,

Here is what I found out. When I close the lid on the laptop and have Dell S2721DGF monitor as main and only shown then problem occurs, screens randomly starts to turn on and off for a few seconds from time to time, but when the lid is open and S2721DGF is set as main and only shown, so that laptop screen is black, this doesn't occur.

I was puzzeld by this for the last few weeks and now I acciendently found out that open/closed lid was causing this problem. I troubleshoot today and tought that maybe the cause is peripherals being plugged into the monitor so I unplugged them and used laptops keyboard and touchpad and problem went away.
It was always going wild when I opened GeForce Experience so this is how I tested it.

When I think about it it's when the problem started, when I decided to have closed lid on laptop to keep it from dust accumulating on laptop keyboard and vents.

So what can I do? If it's problem because od laptop lid is that Acers problem or is it windows problem or is it problem with monitor?
I have PH 717-72 laptop and monitor connected by DP.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi @Hell_J,

Did you try connecting with HDMI or VGA cable.

    Hello,

Didn't try to connect HDMI or VGA because monitor is 165Hz and over HDMI goes only to 144Hz and I don't want that.
I can try to connect it with HDMI just to isolate if it's only DP problem.

I tried connecting Helios 500 with monitor, over DP and everything works fine.
Honestly it makes me furious to have to deal with some problem every few months with this laptop and laptop is a little over 1 year old. It was bought 15.01.2021. and since then had been to three services, one time (after 4 months) motherboard needed to be changed, then whole cooling system, then fans, now this.
I tought that I bought quality product and didn't dream I would have so much problems, for 3000€. I have other laptops from Acer and only this one is bugged with problems. I have PH 517-51 and PH 717-71 in addition to this one. This one being the newest addition to my collection is one dissapointment after another.

I asked for new laptop when the motherboard kicked the bucket and they said they can't authorize substitution of product, in service center. To avoid drama I didn't proceed with that request to my regret.

And to this day something is off with temperature sensor on CPU because it says 92°C in HWmonitor and Predator Sense, when it's on idle. Then I open task manager and after few sec it drops to 50°C, this is one of silly things I'm experiencing, this wouldn't be the problem if laptop wouldn't adjust fan speed according to temperatures (if set on Auto). Another silly thing is that on MAX fans I had temperature 80°C for 10 min, then I set on custom and turned them off and left it so for 5min and temp dropped to 45°C.

If I could find some direct Acer contact I would insist on getting a new device or money back because I just had it with this device, even if it's a year later (I have extended warranty of three years).
