Hello People,

I have just bought an Acer CP311 Chromebook and I have an Acer Monitor (S220HQL) with a VGA and DVI ports. Can anyone tell me what cable I should get for video AND audio that will enable me to plug the monitor into the Chromebook?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

The Acer Monitor S220HQL is pretty old as you are restricted to 2x connections and the best is DVI. The best connection to your Acer CP311 Chromebook is with a USB-C to DVI cord, as the USB-C Gen 1 is way to modern for whatever your S220HQL supports in transfer speeds of 5Gbps and also audio and can also be used as a charging means that delivers 3A at 5V DC for USB charging. The VGA on this monitor is ancient and has only a single type cable that is Analog whereas the DVI has three variety of cables which is DVI-A, DVI-D, DVI-I that are digital which is a much better way to connect a monitor.

There are five different base models of the CP311, the -1H, -1HN, -2H, -2HN and -3H. They all have different specs. Which is yours?

Hi, the Chromebook is the 3H model.
    As per Steven Gen's reply, should I get a DVI-A, DVI-D, DVI-I cable?

PS: I really appreciate both your help, very quick and helpful.

Since the port on yours supports Alt DP mode you should get a USB-C to DVI-D cable. That one isn't a recommendation, just the first one I found with a search.

    Hi Guys,
The DVI-D arrived and works great. The only thing it does not do is power the Chromebook off the Monitor but nine out of ten is not bad. Thank you for your help, very much appreciated.
