This morning I picked up my laptop that was on charge. When I opened the lid the keyboard lights were on with a black screen. The computer was unresponsive. I held the power button down until the computer turned off. I waited a couple of minutes and turned it on again. The Acer logo comes up and nothing else happens. I then held the battery pin down for 30 secs and tried to power it up again with the same results. I held the battery pin down again, waited  20 minutes, plugged the power back in and waited for the light to turn blue and tried to turn it on again but had the same result, the Acer logo and nothing else.
Any ideas?

Do you start to see the juggling balls on the Acer logo screen? What about the 'Press F2' message?

No nothing else except the Acer logo. The computer doesn't make any sounds. Doesn't seem like it is booting up.

If the logo is appearing at all then it is getting into POST at least. When you turn it on it does a minimal memory check then initializes the CPU. When that's started up it initializes the GPU and puts the logo up. Then it goes into POST doing a more involved memory test and test most of the builtin components. Once POST is complete it loads the EFI and from there loads the OS. You might try running the battery down for a while by turning it on and leaving it running without the charger for a couple of hours, then do the forced shutdown with the long press of the power button. With it off plug the charger in and wait for the full battery indication, then turn it on normally. If the issue is caused by an overcharged battery that might help.

Thanks so much for your help so far. I turned my computer on and left it on over night. This morning I woke up the screen was black. I turned the laptop on again and the same logo came up. I left it on and after 10 mins or so a message came up. I have attached a photo of it. I don't have a Windows disc so I guess I am going to have to contact the seller.

If you have access to another computer and a flash drive of 8GB or larger, you can make your own Windows install image. You can then us it to do the various repair tasks that might get things back to normal. If it's not able to be fixed through that method it might be a failed or failing drive. In that case it's likely best to go ahead and get a ticket started with Acer support. An SF314-511 is new enough it should still be in warranty.
