Hello,
Laptop Model: A315-31-P8VL

I've ordered and installed Samsung 980 SSD NVMe 1Tb in M2 slot. Unfortunately it didn't show up in Bios and not anywhere.

After doing my (late) research it turned out that some models support only Sata M.2 SSDs.

1) Can anyone confirm that this Laptop doesn't support NVMe?
2) and do you maybe know maximum supported storage size for the SATA M.2 SSD?

Many thanks!

Service guide doesnt mention NVME support im afriad :( only has Sata SSD's listed in the support table, the offical listing has up to a 512GB unit listed, ( Flash Disk MICRON SSD NAND 512GB Micron 3D 32layer M.2 2280 512GB MTFDDAV512TBN LF+HF KN.51204.032 and  Flash Disk LITE-ON SSD NAND 512GB CV3-8D512 FW:T89A101 LF+HF )  but any size Sata drive should work

This laptop should be compatible with most but not all NVME cards but will only support SATA3 speeds of about 600MB/s. The Samsung can be a bit touchy. I recommend the Western Digital Blue series NVME for this laptop because they pack a lot of performance for  the price. However, please be aware that it will still only operate at SATA3 speeds due to your mainboard bus limitations. The 1TB blue NVME seems to be about the best deal right now and should be perfect for your laptop.

Also use the Crucial System Scanner that will give you all the SSD drive specs suitable for your laptop that Crucial makes.

Thank you so much for all the replies!
I decided to go with WD SATA M.2 500GB just to be play it safe. As using hwinfo64 showed that I only have PCI-Express 2x2, and frankly I can't afford to return a product for the second time. I will write a feedback as soon as I install it.

I do appreciate the help, thanks guys.

Feedback: I would like to say that I've installed a 512 Gb Sata m.2 SSD and it works flawlessly! boot time: 35 Sec
