I have Nitro 5 AN515-45 it's running windows 11, within a few months of getting this laptop (july '21). at some point recently (i'm unsure exactly when this started because it's generally plugged in all the time unless I'm swapping rooms or something), when i unplug the power cable the machine just switches off. The battery shows as fully charged, shows up in my Device manager tab, says it's up to date drivers (on both power supply and battery entries). I have removed the device and reinstalled the driver using windows, I have used windows reinstall (losing all my game data >_<). I have turned off the system and unplugged it, held power button for a slow count of 60 then left it alone for an hour, reset BIOS to default and pulled half my hair out!
Are there any other fixes i can try?  My tech support messages only suggested i send the laptop in to be rectified (and windows reinstallation).  I'd really rather not be without the machine for a week or two because of what is most likely just a software update causing a conflict. I have looked through BIOS downloads in the software section, but nothing jumps out as a fix and i don't know enough to confidently just download BIOS settings that maybe wrong.
Thanks in advance!

@savagefrontier this should be some problem with the battery that it does not hold charge anymore although it shows fully charged. You can contact Acer for warranty.

    Hi @savagefrontier,

Reset this PC and keep my files
    1. Shutdown the unit. Press and hold alt+F10 key. Then turn ON the unit.
    2. You will get a blue screen. Choose the option troubleshoot.

3 Ways to Reset Acer Laptop to Factory Settings without Password

    3. Select Keep my files to refresh your PC and reinstall your operating system without removing your personal files. Click Next to continue. Important If you have apps installed on your PC, they will be removed.
    4. Resetting the PC will reinstall Windows, change settings back to their factory defaults and remove all preinstalled apps and programs without removing your personal files. Click Reset to continue.
    5. You will be shown the reset progress on the screen. The screen will turn off during the reset process.
    6. The screen will turn back on when it is installing Windows. Your PC will restart several times during the reset process.
    7. Follow the process until it completes.
    8. When your PC has completed the reset process, Windows will have been reset back to its factory default settings without removing your personal files.

    Thanks @Easwar
I did this process through Windows 11 settings, it changed nothing (other than removing my games etc.)
I've since returned the unit to Acer for warrenty repair. I'm waiting on them now.
But I appreciate the answer :)

Please let us know what they find. It's possible the battery internal data is corrupt, but usually the reset takes care of that.

For the sake of being informative, I have spoken on the phone with customer support, my laptop is on it's way back.
The only information the lady gave me was "they have replaced the faulty battery".

Well, a faulty battery certainly could cause those symptoms. Let us know if it really did once you get it back. :)

Yes. With  really bad battery, 0% is the same as 100%.
