    Right click empty desktop area. Click display settings. Click display resolution dropdown. Select resolution with (recommended) notation.

    but how to fix the artifacts showing in low quality images in 1080p display

    Check this

    1. Right-click your mouse on an empty area of your computer desktop where no icons are present. Video of the Day.
    2. Click "Screen resolution."
    3. Click the drop-down menu next to "Resolution."
    4. Drag the slider bar upward to the highest setting.
    5. Click "OK." The new resolution is displayed.

    HELP!  Acer Aspire E1 is requesting a password and after three tries of my windows p/w a msg appears that system is halt, than a black-grey screen with a white dash mark in the upper left.  How do I get pass this to the home screen?
