So I have an Aspire E15 E5-574-5461 Idk if this is relevant, it's an i5-6267U with an integrated Iris 550, 8 GB RAM and originally a 1 TB HDD which I've swapped with a 256 GB SSD.
The problem is that my laptop's wifi reach is very very limited. One room away from the router, and it disconnects, barely connecting after i close chrome or whatever ive been using then directly disconnecting once i open something that uses internet. Unless im in the same room as the router, it keeps disconnecting. The only solution ive had for it was opening a hotspot on my phone, using it as a repeater to get a stronger signal for my laptop. I'm sure the issue is with the laptop, because ive moved recently and got new wifi and it's the same problem. My other laptop connects just fine from an even further room.

Open Device Manager. Click network adapters folder. Right click properties wife/wlan adapter. Click advanced tab. Select preferred band. Try 2.4GHz band. If no joy, try 5GHz band.

Tried that, unfortunately neither worked. Additionally. What I've noticed, is that the problem isn't just with wifi range, but my laptop using some specific "amount of wifi". For example, if i start downloading something, even though it's working, it would disconnect. If I'm connected to my phone's hotspot it would work normally.

I haven't, because I'm not in the US. Not sure my Wifi company could help, because the problem isn't with the wifi, it's just this laptop. I'm not sure if I could receive support from Acer, since the laptop is second-hand.

Sounds like an antenna issue (behind the lid screen). Possibly due to coax cable failure from  wear and tear of opening/closing the lid too much. Or the wifi card and its antenna connectors simply need to be re-seated to help clean their contacts. Is this machine still under warranty? Checking these out will require removing the bottom cover. Not really that hard to do.
