Yesterday I was working with the laptop plugged in at around 30% battery when the laptop turned off and now it doesn't turn on. It is not picking up charge either. No sign of LEDs. I tried battery reset too but no difference. The laptop is an year and half old. What could be the issue? Pls help

Sounds like the mainboard safety interlock switch isn't being depressed hard enough by the bottom cover. Have you recently opened it up to add RAM, a card etc? Jack E/NJ

I didn't but I had an issue few months ago that caused random shutdown of the laptop.
But when I had that issue the laptop used to turn on when plugged in which is not the case now. I checked the charger with another laptop and its working too

A few months ago the battery reset switch probably got stuck off. Now seems more likely that the safety interlock switch is stuck off. It's a spring loaded normally off switch usually located around the RAM slots. When the bottom case is removed or misaligned, the switch turns off to cut all power to the mainboard. The fix is to tape a spacer to the top of the switch button so the case pushes harder to keep it on. The bottom cover must be removed to access the switch. What is your full Helios model number? G3-xxx? PH31x-xx? Jack E/NJ

I opened the back cover I can see 2 switches SW2(black spring switch) and SW3 (white clicky switch). I pressed SW2 and connected the charger but I see no signs. Could there be an SW1 too?

rebelof98 are you trying to get it to work with the back cover out ?? you have to get everything completely assembled back and all screws properly tighten also if your swicth in the ram compartment is not properly pressed as @JackE stated above by the door put layers of electrical tape on the door where it presses it to make sure its properly pressed as i said there might be more presure kill switches along the chassis you have to assemble it properly in order to test if its working or not and have you already performed a battery power drain?

Does it light up any light as all when you connect your adapter?

<< I checked the charger with another laptop and its working too >>

You said you tested it and was it on a gaming laptop that needed either a 135/180 w adapter or just a normal laptop that oly uses a 60w adapter because if the adapter its not providing the full voltage/wattage needed to power the laptop it wont work and might still work fine with a normal weaker laptop which requires less voltage/wattage anyway im just asking.

This is just an ex i have more acer laptops my 7745G for ex uses a 90w adapter and both my 5740G use a 60w and my 90w adapter got faulty after 7/7.5 years the laptop wouldnt power on i tried my 60w adapters from the other aspires would power but switch off after awhile but the 90w adapter would still power the 5740G's without issues resuming i had to get a new 90w adapter for the 7745G had no other option

SW3 (white) is the reset (EC) switch.
SW2 (black) is the battery power off switch.

@xapim Hey! Thanks for the concern.
<<I tried the charger with another laptop>> by this I mean I tried it with another Helios 300 (8 gen) that has charger with the same rating.
Giving clarity on the situation so that y'all could help me better:
    >>Does it light up any light as all when you connect your adapter? - No
    >>Tried battery reset? - Yes, no effect
    >>Was I doing some heavy processing for the machine to shut down so abruptly?- I was watching YouTube on chrome +a few processes (***** etc, working in the background)
    >>Did I perform battery drain? - The machine shows no response as such to perform battery drain.
    Thanks

rebelof98 well if youre still on warranty i would say to send it asap it seems to me that after all you had tried unfortunately it might be a faulty mobo you could try a cmos/jcmos reset but i dunno if that would do anything in this case if out of warranty either take it to a good repair shop to diagnose the mobo to see if the issue can be fixed or try to look for a donor mobo

The safety interlock switch SW2 might simply need to be repeatedly depressed to clean its contacts. With both the battery & charger DISCONNECTED, try pressing it firmly and repeatedly a couple dozen times. Then button it up with the tape trick to put some extra pressure on it to try to keep it in the on position. Jack E/NJ

    Hey!
So today I got a multimeter handy and checked for the power at the point where the power wires meet the motherboard all pairs had 20V.
I did the SW2 contact test with the connection test mode on the multimeter. Connected both sides and pressed the switch by hand.Got a beep...so SW2 is fine.
Anything else that could be the problem?

Hold on. Multimeter voltage only measures voltage at very high impedance on both sides of the switch (eg 0 watts), not the switch's power delivery capability (eg volts x amps). And multimeter continuity beep check only means the switch passed a small multimeter test current probably in the milliamp range. This translates to about the 10 milliwatt range for the dry cells that power the multimeter. This a far smaller power delivery than the mainboard requires --- tens of watts are needed to boot.  So, again, try removing the battery and charger. Then start banging at the switch to try to clean its internal contents. Then button it back up with the tape trick on the case. Jack E/NJ

you may bang on the switch or whatever,
the simplest solution will be to permanently solder /short the switch to "ON" position.
as acer has done to some lines of its motherboards.

i have a predator helios 300 gaming laptop, An Aspire A315-53 laptop on both there is no switch and the switch points seemed to shorted by soldering on the motherboard.
i bought both from flipkart in India, if that matters.

This is "if" the switch is the problem on your motherboard.

I can confirm that some of the nitro 5 do not have the switch near the ram i repasted one last month but my H300 has it

Hey, @JackE I did the contact cleaning of the switch as you said...still no response. Anything else that could be the problem? I am trying to get it working if I can on my own because my city only has Acer "authorised" service centers. A friend of mine has a display pixel problem and the first thing they did was reinstalling windows.

Well, if the switch's 2 soldered mainboard power connectors are accessible, you could try to bridge them with a bypass wire to rule in or rule out bad contacts inside the switch. Be careful not touch the switch's body supports to the mainboard since they're probably solder to ground.  If it works, then you could follow Deejay_tech 's & xapim 's advice and eliminate the switch altogether or just leave the switch on the board with the bypass wire.
