i have a aspire 5 a515-55-56vk with broken left hinges and bezel that i reported to the warranty department.  when i notified acer of the defect i was advised that the warranty had expired, the day before, so not covered. expired on the order date and not the day i registered, what about shipping/travel time. clearly acer is aware that there are problems with this hinge design, should offer some kind of remedy.

Sorry. Physical damages like this usually aren't covered. If the damage is to the metal hinge itself, new hinges are less than $15. Google search the part nos. 33.HGLN7.002 & 33.HGLN7.003 for vendors who ship to your location. The plastic bezel part no. is 60.HGLN7.003 is under $20 but sometimes harder to find because they change so often. In that case, a 2-part epoxy repair using something like JBWeld is probably the best fix.

thank you for your comment. i have seen this response before. so many comments about using glue to fix the  hinge and cover, but this does not fix a bad pivot point. lots of people having the same problem. my aspire 5750 mfg date 11/06 is still running. aspire 5, 1 year and 1 day, must be my mishandling.

Yep. The hinges, and the LCD & antenna cables that thread thru the hinges, are the most stressed parts of any consumer-grade laptop by any of the major mfrs. That's why I keep opening/closing lids to an absolute minimum on any of mine to reduce wear & tear on these parts.
