System fan for Nitro N50-600 desktop

Hi,

I recently got the Nitro N50-600. The other day i noticed the CPU was getting quite heated (~80 - 83°C). To be on the safe side I ordered and installed an additional chassi fan (Noctua NF-R8 redux-1800 PWM) that I connected to the one and only 4-pin system fan slot on the motherboard.

My problem is that the fan isn't working. I tried downloading SmartFan to see if I could activate it manually ,but It doesn't even register it. Next I went into BIOS and there I noticed that it says "System fan speed N/A" like it's disabled, but there is no option to enable it.

I thought maybe I have to upgrade my BIOS from R01-C2 to the newer version R01-C3. I'm not sure it'll help and I'd rather not mess around with BIOS since everything else is working smoothly.

Any ideas?

Appretiate any and all the help I can get.

Regards,
Gizzmoquak

Okay so I wrote "additional chassi fan" but to be more exact I added one. The N50-600 didn't come with an included chassi fan.
What you have to do is to make your Nitro N50-600 and the "Noctua NF-R8 redux-1800 PWM" fan share the motherboard PWM 4-pin socket, easy. See the attachment pic, as that is what you need and its very cheap. I would also consider water cooling if that doesn't work or you want todo further upgrades.
Note: Acer warranty does not extend to modified systems and/or recommend  any modifications to any of their products, if this product is under warranty, take it to your nearest Acer dealer to rectify the problem that you are having.

I think you need a 4 pin splitter, see the thread below

    Thanks! I'ill try that.

Water cooling was the first thing that I considered. I haven't found anything on the market that could fit inside the Nitro N50-600 chassi, it's very compact.

You might want to put the radiator outside the case (I've done plenty of water cooling this way and they work much better than inside the case) which is a better alternative and run it through the back where the case empty fan slot is and secure it by means of a velcro to the outside, just a suggestion. Have a look at the "Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML120L RGB TUF Gaming Edition" for LGA1151 here: https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/cpu-liquid-coolers/masterliquid-ml120l-rgb-tuf-gaming-edition/ as this will fit

Did you have any luck getting the Noctua NF-R8 redux-1800 PWM to work?

Hello pipermac I have the same problem here about the pwm syst_fan when I configure into the BIOS  the "intelligent fans control" to ENABLE my n50-600 stars and the syst fan starts turning and it stopped but if I disable the intelligent fans control my pwm syst fan work but at the max of RPM. I don't know why the pwm isn't working.

    Hey Steven!
I am buying the same system and was wondering if this Set-up involved modifying the chassis as I do not want to void the warranty.

    thanks!

I do not have the system yet but it is my understanding that it doesn’t have an heatsink... so maybe I could just buy this along a chassis fan?

Did any of you could finally install a water cooling system?

    Tinkerer

I installed a Noctua NF-A8 PWM fan on my Nitro N50-600 Serial Number: DBE0H1100490900AFE9100 and plugged it into the "SysFan" on the motherboard next to the "cpu fan" (see picture)
It doesn't work. Went into bios and found nothing to adjust or change.
The only way it works is if I add a Y splitter off the cpu fan which seems to cut the rpm's in half. I had to go into NitroSense and adjust the fan speed to a minimum of 2596 rpm's
    Any idea's ?
