I'm trying to install linux/ubuntu and it tells me I need to turn off RST. So when I go to the BIOS to do that and change SATA mode to AHCI I save and exit. Next I reboot the computer and only get a lit black screen. Only way I fix it is by holding down the power button to reset the settings. So I'm lost on what to do here, thank you for any help in advance.

Have a look at this Acer community “disabling RST” and follow that and then try again.

    Hi @ Fezz2025
    1. Insert a bootable Linux USB drive.
    2. Click the start menu. ...
    3. Then hold down the SHIFT key while clicking Restart. ...
    4. Then select Use a Device.
    5. Find your device in the list. ...
    6. Your computer will now boot Linux. ...
    7. Select Install Linux. ...
    8. Go through the installation process.

I ran into the same problem once again, to turn off RST but it gives me a black screen on start up when I do. Let me explain my dilemma, every time I start my laptop (Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54) I get no bootable device. However when I use a USB with linux ubuntu on it to boot, I dont get that message anymore. So the new problem I now have is the current one I post about. Ultimately Im just trying to be able to use my laptop again and not get this no bootable device on start up
