Acer Aspire Will Not Boot After BIOS Upgrade A515 10510U

Hello!

I have a ACERAC A515 10510U/16/1T/15.6 that will not boot after a Bios Upgrade through Windows Update. I do not see anything on the screen when the machine powers on and I cannot enter Windows or the Bios.

I tried a couple soft resets with help from Acer on the phone but then they told me that it will ultimately cost $500 to fix the laptop. This is, of course, utterly ridiculous since the laptop is in EXCELLENT condition, runs very well, is free of viruses, is only about 19 months old, and the BIOS update was installed through Windows update.

According to some other posts online, it seems I am not the only one that has experienced this extremely serious and discouraging issue.

I was extremely pleased with this PC prior to the attempted Bios upgrade and I would appreciate fair and adequate assistance. It pains me to think about having to write excessively negative reviews about what was once the best laptop I ever owned.

Please help!

Worst case I suspect a replacement motherboard would fix though first I'd pull the CMOS battery and reset everything. $500 sounds like a replacement laptop. If it really corrupted the BIOS then It would have to be reblown.
The Basic Input/Output System is a program that provides access to peripherals (keyboard, display, etc.) and with it you have a fully functional computer. Without a properly working BIOS you have a brick.

Can you boot in advanced startup options? It might happen if you'll be rapid clicking a hotkey when booting, the go to advanced startup options>uefi and firmware settings> then click f9 to set bios defaults and press f10 to exit, then it might boot

I guess if you are in warranty, replace motherboard of no cost, that's it!  Motherboards have bios chip installed with them. You can change motherboard and bios will be loaded by the factory version. I've done it before with my a514-54g

I am not in warranty but I honestly don't know why that should matter because I did absolutely nothing wrong and the PC is in superb condition. Is running Windows Update wrong? I was truly shocked and appalled that Acer told me they would not own up to this and fix my PC free of charge.

Unfortunately, pressing hot keys when attempting to boot does not work.

I have not been able to locate a Phillips head screwdriver that is small enough to open the PC but I will try resetting the CMOS when I find one.

    I will keep everyone posted.
