Aspire 5750-6866 no longer powers up - has gone dark.

Acer Aspire model #5750-6866 has gone dark.  While working on the laptop the screen went dark as did all L.E.D.s on the front.  The L.E.D. that normally illuminates when the power cable is plugged in also no longer illuminates.  There are no signs of life.

The power cable works with our other Acer.

The battery works in our other Acer.

The outlet the unit was plugged into when it went dark works with other devices.

 

Does anyone have any ideas?

 

The unit was purchased new less than 18 months ago, thus it is out of warranty.  The support chat indicated that it is a "main board" issue that Acer will repair for $249.00 plus taxes plus one-way shipping.

 

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I just had the same issue happen to me.  I opened the lid to take it out of sleep mode, and nothing - no lights, no power.  Completely dead.

     

    My laptop is out of warranty by only a couple of months. I have a friend who also has a 5750, though the last 4 numbers are different.  She purchased hers a few months before I purchased mine, and hers died on her just over a month ago as well.

     

    Are we dealing with a faulty system/motherboard in this model or something else?

     

    Can anyone help?
