Hi!! How are you guys?? All good?
I need a help! My Ryzen 5 3500u is running with extreme low clocks, between 1.2ghz to 2.2ghz! My laptop is a Aspire A315-42G with a Ryzen 5 3500u CPU.
In indle, my CPU runs at the base clock (2.7ghz). But if I try to do anything heavy, like gaming or do a light render, my CPU clock goes down pretty hard to 2.1 and 2.2ghz, but most of the time it keeps between 1.3 and 1.7ghz
This problem is more noticeable when gaming. I tried to play CSGO (with low settings at 720p) and the game starts above 90fps, a few moments later I'm playing at 25fps.
It looks A LOT like thermal throttling, but I'm using a cooler pad for my laptop and the temperatures hardly exceeds 79C(174F). I started to do stress tests and noticed that, when my CPU hits 75C(165F), the wattage goes really low and the clock goes bellow 2.0ghz (normally goes to 1.7ghz). And keeps low for a long period of time
I was searching the web and found some threads with people with the same problem, but in older Ryzen. When their CPU was hitting 75C, the clock goes down pretty hard. Maybe is something that ACER should fix with a BIOS update! But they posted the last update (for my laptop) last year, and there were no performance related BIOS upgrade for my laptop.
Also, I know that U CPU's aren't for gaming. But even light gaming it should run. And there's Nitro laptops with the same CPU or older U models (like the 2200u). Also, gaming laptops where I live, is REALLY expensive, my beautiful potato already was expensive
My specs:
Aspire 3 A315-42G-R6FZ
CPU: Ryzen 5 3500u
GPU: Vega 8 (integrated) / Radeon 540X (dedicated)
RAM: 16gb (2x8gb dual channel)
BIOS: Insydeh20 1.11 (last one available)
Windows 10 PRO
Thanks a lot!!!!!
Also, sorry about my english. It is not my first language.

I was playing Forza Horizon 5. It runs okay at 900p low, but the CPU was the bottleneck going between 1.3ghz and 2.1ghz. Also, the termals are good! At 69 (nice) degrees Celsius (156F).

(1) Battery must be near 100% charged and plugged in before starting gaming loads. Battery will drain at times to complement charger power output.(2) Once battery drains below about 50% level, even plugged in, gaming will start to show throttling behavior as charging the battery takes precedent over meeting gaming power demands(3) Your power plan should be set to performance mode in ControlPanel's 'create a power plan' app.

>>>My battery is at 100% when I'm gaming and the power plan is set to performance. >>>Yes, but what is the battery charge level when it starts throttling? Still 100%? Or 75%? Or less than 50%?

You probably need to repaste the heatsinks with a quality paste like Kryonaut or ArcticMX4.Also, please don't post multiple threads on the same issue as it will only delay resolution.
