Your Predator G3-605 was released just on the cusp of the Windows 7 => Windows 8 era, so supports a UEFI BIOS. The typical problem with upgrading an old system to a new GPU is that modern GPUs require UEFI to work right. So, you are good! :) Which power supply do you have installed? IIRC they came with 300W or 500W... You'll want to look at power requirements for any new card you choose to make sure you don't have to also upgrade the PSU. I'd look at 10 series GTX cards, paying for a 20 or 30 series gets you into the realm of just replacing the machine being cost effective.

You can upgrade the CPU up to i7-4790 and the graphics card up to GTX1060, make sure that your PSU capable to handle higher graphics card.

If you have the G3-605's OEM 500W and not the 300W PSU then you can upgrade to the GTX-1070ti 8 GB which needs a 450W which is a high spec GPU for your system and the best, that is what I suggest that you do. Otherwise upgrade your PSU from the 300W as that is the only way that you will get a better GPU for your system.

The power supply wattage is usually marked on the side. So just remove the side panel and look. It should show either 300W or 500W.
