Acer Chromebook CB3-431 keeps freezing

Hi,
My Chromebook has been an excellent investment over the last 5 years, up until this frustrating challenge where it has started freezing on me over the last month or so.

I have managed/reduced the number of open tabs, cleared cache and deleted apps and extensions all to no avail.

Is the only solution a Powerwash?

Any hints/tips greatly appreciated!

Typically we do recommend a power wash at this point. That will usually fix it if the issue is software related. A hardware issue like a failing drive won't be fixed by the power wash, so it can also provide some diagnostics...

Thank you, I thought that might to best option but was hesitant to do it.

    Hi @TonysChromebook,

    Check for updates yourself

    1. Turn on your Chromebook.
    2. Connect your Chromebook to Wi-Fi.
    3. At the bottom right, select the time.
    4. Select Settings .
    5. At the bottom of the left panel, select About Chrome OS.
    6. Under "Google Chrome OS," you'll find which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook uses.
    7. Select Check for updates.
    8. If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
