AZ3620 All-In-One DVD problem

My All-In-One was purchased less than one year ago. The built-in DVD has been used no more than 3 times and all of a sudden the system is no longer able to find it.  It reports a problem in the registry. Any suggestions?

You going to need to provide the details of the error that you're seeing.

When I check the Device Manager...the CD-DVD ROM cannot be found. The message is:

Windows cannot start this hardware device

Because its configuration information (in the registry)

Is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

That's all the information I can find.

You may want to try what is listed in this Microsoft article to restore the optical drive functionality.

Tried that link and it is for Windows Vista. My system is Windows 7 and I couldn't find any reference to CD or DVD there. Where do I find help for Windows 7 DVD not being found?

Thanks for trying to help me with this problem, but non of the fixes have helped restore recognition of my DVD drive in Windows 7.  I will have to rely on my laptop computer any time I require access to a DVD.  A real pain, but my only option.

That is not necessarily the only option.

You could call your local Acer service center and let them attempt to reproduce and then fix the issue.

I can find no Acer Support centre where we live on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I submitted the problem again to Acer Support via e-mail. Have to wait and see where that gets me. Thanks again for trying.

I know you are trying to help me with this, but the fact is - I am not able to send the complete system in to Acer. I use the computer daily and there is far too much sensitive data on it to risk sending it anywhere.  As far as I know, there is no Acer service centre anywhere near where we live (Courtenay, BC)

The nearest facility is in Burnaby, BC.
