Acer Travelmate P215-52 "Bootable Device Not Found"

Hello,

Our organisation uses several models of Acer laptops, including the above Travelmate P215-52. All of our devices are autopiloted through Microsoft Intune and are bitlockered as part of our compliance policies. Windows updates are pushed automatically, but driver updates are blocked as this has caused issues for us in the past.

As of last week, we have had four separate Travelmate P215-52 devices from four separate users fail on us, showing 'No bootable device found' and when trying to reset Windows, they get stuck in a boot loop after passing the BIOS screen.

These devices have been in use for several months and the only thing we can think of is a potential Windows update, security definition update, or Office update has caused some form of file corruption, however it would be strange if this is the case for one specific model of device. We have various Extensas and Swifts in use across the business and these are working fine.

Does anyone know of any issues specific to this model of laptop?

Thanks

    Hi Liam509,

    # Try to get the BIOS page.
    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    2. Press and hold the F2 key and turn on the unit.
    3. You will be in setup utility page.
    4. Once you got the screen release the F2 key.
    5. Tap on F9 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    6. Tap on F10 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    7. Your unit will restart by itself.

Check this T/S and post the result.

No bootable device found issues are usually traced to the EFI partition either getting corrupted or the EFI file getting corrupted. Either can be caused by malware these days but can also be caused by drive failures. Boot from a Windows install image and use diskpart to provide a drive letter for the EFI partition, then explore the files there using the command prompt. Check to make sure none have been modified recently and rebuild the partition if needed. If you are unable to write to the partition then look into the SMART data on the disk, it might be having issues. Since it happened to several machines at the same time I'd be more concerned about malware than hardware...

@ZXC we really need to know which computer you have. Did it come with an eMMC drive, an M.2 SSD or a 2.5" HDD? Or maybe a combination of the three... Can you boot to the BIOS? Can you boot from a Windows install flash drive? The latter is what's going to help the most with diagnosis. Did something happen just prior to the problem (like a BIOS change) or was it just out of the blue? You should probably start a new thread so you will be able to mark it solved when we get you running again.
