Now I'm trying to get the recovery image through chrome on a windows laptop. The usb has enough space forbthe program, but after downloading and unpacking, it stops and doesn't do the writing.
Already tried to do it in save mode on that laptop, but still the same problem.
Does anyone know what to do?
Thanks.

Ok, problem I wrote above is solved: don't use the quick formatting but the extended formatting.
Now I can download the entire recovery image. But when I but the usb in the chromebook with the problem, it says that the usb isn't good (something like that). In the manual it says that some usb-drives aren't good for the recovery program, but it doesn't say anywhere which one is good and which one isn't. Does anybody know this?0 -
Which CP311 model do you have? It should be something like CP311-xxx-xxxx. Are you in the Chrome browser on the Windows machine, with the proper extension installed? It should then wipe the USB flash drive and rebuild it using the proper image for your model. They recommend an 8GB flash drive, but I would expect a 16GB or 32GB to work just fine. What size is yours?

I'm in the Chrome browser, on the Windows machine, I installed the proper extension. It wiped and rebuild the usb flash drive. The usb is new, it is formatted correctly and it is 32GB. When I start the 'rebuilding' proces on the chromebook it starts checking the integrity of the usb and then it says something is wrong.0 -

I'd like to know what they say... I wonder if the error was actually a failed drive on the motherboard and it failed at first write attempt.
