Hello.
I have a Helios 300 ph315-53, and I am having issues with the audio.
The sound will frequently dip and fade to a low inaudible volume for a few seconds, before going back to normal, this happens a lot and is very annoying.
I also have problems with the quality itself, there is hardly any base and the loudness is very bad for some programs I use.
I am blind and use a screen reader (text to speech), and the sound of this laptop makes it very low and I can't hear it over other things like games.
Things I've tried so far include reinstalling drivers, maxing out all settings on DTSX ultra and installing third party apps like FX sound which produced a lot of input lag, and equaliser EPO which did nothing at all when I increased the settings, but maybe I was doing something wrong I don't know.
If someone could help me fix and boost the audio I will be very grateful, I can't stress how important this is for me to have good quality audio.

Sometimes a simple system restore will fix the issue..

    Try windows x
click on power shell admin or command prompt admin
    type rstrui
chose an earlier date on which your computer was working fine
    click on next, finish, yes
It will restore your computer to an earlier date
if you get an message - system restore not completed - click on close
It will show you all the icons..

Try and check whether it is working now ..

    Try windows x
Go to device manager - Go to sound video and game controllers.  Expand it
Uninstall the sound driver from device manager.  Please uninstall all the items below the sound video and game controllers.
Restart the computer.  It should work fine..

If it is still not working
Uninstall the sound driver from device manager
    Dont restart the computer.
    Go to support.acer.com
    chose your country
type snid or chose your model
    go to drivers
    Install the sound driver

Hello, thank you for your reply.
I have already done most of the steps you've mentioned, the laptop has newly pre-installed windows on it and I have performed system restores before with no effect.
I will re-install the audio driver, but I did download the driver suited to my model from the official website in the first place.
    Many thanks

Please reinstall the driver and check..

If it is still not working...

You  can always  do a refresh and reset.   These are steps to do the refresh and reset ..

click on start - settings - update and security - recovery - reset this pc - get started

    or

on start - type here to search - type reset this pc - click on reset this pc on the top  - click on get started

It will show you keep my files and remove every thing

    chose keep my files
chose the account - type the password - click on local reinstall - click on reset
    It will be in progress..
login to computer and start using the computer.

If it is still not working

click on start - settings - update and security - recovery - reset this pc - get started
    chose remove everything
click on local reinstall - just remove my files - click on reset  - It will be in progress

If you do refresh ( keep my files ) -  all your personal files like pictures, music , documents , videos  will still be intact.   Only the applications will be lost

If you do reset  ( remove everything )  - you are doing a factory default.   It will become like a day one computer.    It will wipe out everything and take your computer to day one like a new computer.

    Hi.
As I mentioned in my last post, the laptop has new windows installed on it as I put new storage into the laptop.
It was like this before and after I did the upgrades, however I decided to keep the laptop because apart from this I am very happy with it.
I just have this issue which needs fixing, the best way I can explain it is like someone lowering the volume slowly for a few seconds and then putting it back to normal again.

It looks like a driver related issue..   Try to uninstall and reinstall as mentioned earlier..

    Try windows x
Go to device manager - Go to sound video and game controllers.  Expand it
Uninstall the sound driver from device manager.  Please uninstall all the items below the sound video and game controllers. Restart the computer.  It should work fine..

If it is still not working
Uninstall the sound driver from device manager
    Dont restart the computer.
    Go to support.acer.com
    chose your country
type snid or chose your model
    go to drivers
Install the sound driver     (  If possible try to install the chipset driver and check )

Click on "Like" if you find my answer useful

Click on "Yes" if it answers your question.

    Sorry for the late reply.
I have tried what you said, reinstalled all the audio related drivers and got them off the website, but it still drops.
