access battery on Chromebook CP311-1H

I'm getting the issue where the charging light flashes orange when plugged in to a charger, but the device won't turn on. There is no pinhole on the back for a battery reset. I read some guidance that suggested I open the Chromebook up and manually disconnect the battery to reset it, but I'm having trouble opening the Chromebook. I removed the 8 visible screws on the back but cannot get the bottom of the device to pop off. I don't want to force it and break anything...anyone have advice on how to open the Chromebook? Should I have it turned upside down and try to remove the bottom? Or should I open it like normal notebook style and remove the faceplate with keyboard?

There are twelve screws on the bottom of a CP311-1H.

    1. Turn off your Chromebook and remove the charger
    2. Press and hold Refresh  + tap Power  for 30 seconds and than try

Tried that, it did not work. I've also tried Pwr+esc+refresh to do a hard start while plugged in and that did not work either.

Thanks @billsey, I didn't realize there were screws underneath the rubber pads on the bottom.

That worked @billsey! Took off the bottom plate, disconnected the battery, waited a few minutes, reconnected and now it's working perfectly again. Much appreciated.

How did you get the rubber pads out, to get to the screws?
    Thank You!

I usually use either a pocket knife or small screw driver to pry up the edge of a pad. They are typically held in place with a sticky surface and gentle prying allows it to release. As long as you don't get that surface dirty it will usually stick back in place later when you reassemble.
