My laptop only have a hdd drive (ST1000LM035-1RK172 ,I found this model name from the windows 10 device manager. I never seen the hard disk as I didn't remove the laptops cover.).in the bios menu the hard disk sata mode is set to RST with optane.I never installed anything to the nvme port in this lap.in the device manager it only shows my hdd.the intel optane memory management utility came preinstalled.
1.So can there be a optane memory built in to the motherboard of the lap?
My laptop gets stuck some times when hard disk usage becomes high.I thought to change the sata mode in bios to ahci (currently the option is greyed out,but i saw that pressing ctrl+s inside the bios will unlock that in a post.never tried that before,i am gonna try that, thats why I am asking from you guys. )
2. If I change the sata mode to ahci, will it improve the laptops performance? or Will my laptop stops from booting as i changed the sata mode?
another thing to mention is that the hard disk drivers installed are from 2006.i tried updating drivers through the windows update and iobit driver updater pro.but no updates were there for that hard disk drive.I attached some pictures of the device manager.
I attached some screenshots from the intel optane and memory manager aslo.it came preinstalled with windows.
hardware ids for my hard disk:

RST is connected to but not the same as Optane memory I dont think the lappy has an optain module as it shows the no valid disk pairs, and the module would show under the disk drives
Rapid Storage Tech (RST) changes how the drive is handled, and is a massive leap forward to AHCI as the drive can handle more requests at once, and has a larger queue for requests, so it increases speed while also lowering latancy and power use . You need a driver to use it though, so its only windows at the moment.
I wouldnt turn it off, as you are just lowering the performance of the lappy. the drivers for the drive being from 2006 isnt too supprising, not much changes in the world of hard drives 🤷♀️1

>>>1.So can there be a optane memory built in to the motherboard of the lap?Not built in. However an Optane memory card is inserted in the laptops m.2 socket and acts as a speed enhancer for the Seagate HDD.>>>2. If I change the sata mode to ahci, will it improve the laptops performance? or Will my laptop stops from booting as i changed the sata mode? No. It will slow down the Seagate HDD performance.
