Hello!

I have an Aspire 5745G hooked upto an external monitor via VGA cable, there's a HDMI port next to it. I was wondering whether I can hook up second HDMI display?

The spec sheet says "Dual independent display support", does it mean 2 external displays are supported or one external along with the laptops built in display?

Also is the HDMI port wired directly to DGPU in this model?

Dual means two. Like the other thread, HDMI out to a TV. One of the nvidia drivers is for a switchable mainboard suggesting the ports can be changed between the Intel & nvidia gpus.

This model actually has optimus graphics, there is no physical switch to switch between different gpus.

I'm assuming even DGPU singnals are passed through IGPU since this is over a decade old laptop and mux switches weren't really a thing back then.

    Thanks for the reply.

Correct. The mainboard with the optimus chip doesn't switch.
