CP713-2W cannot mirror screen

When I connect the chromebook to an external monitor or projector, it defaults to "extended screen", but when I check "mirror screen" in the settings, the external screen remains the same and does not mirror the built-in display.  I have tried using the HDMI port and the USB-C ports with the same result.  I have also tried this with two different projectors.
I am trying to use the chromebook with a stylus and project drawings for my students to view as I do them.  I can probably make this happen by using a Chromecast connected to the projector, but connecting the laptop directly would be much more convenient.

Problem solved!  I'm actually a bit embarrassed to admit that, after trying multiple settings, ports, cables, monitors and projectors, doing multiple internet searches, and posting my issue here, I finally tried what should have been step number one:  restart the computer.  Screen mirroring now works as it should.

I wonder if it is a resolution mismatch. Try setting the Chromebook to the same resolution as the larger display (likely 1920x1080) instead of trying to mirror the display at the laptop resolution (2256 x 1504). Things will look a little weird on the laptop since you'll be moving from 3:2 to 16:9...

Heheh, what works is always the last thing you try... :)
