AN515 52 no display after battery reset / m.2 nvme SSD install. No signal to external monitors.

Hello folks.

I have a AN515 52, basically the same model. Gtx 1050,i5 8th gen. 8gb 2666hz single ram. 1tb HDD, 128gb SSD with OS but replaced with empty 500gb nvme.

I don't have that trigger thingy below the ram slots meant to block any attempts to power the laptop while it's uncovered, nor was there signs of a safety mechanism.

Today I received a new m.2 ssd nvme. COMPATIBLE. I opened my laptop, not the first time ever done, I did repastes before and dust cleanups.

During the installation of my new SSD, I accidentally pressed the battery reset button, I also didn't unplug the battery since I forgot. But I don't think that's the cause of anything fatal.

After reassemblance, the display refused to turn on. There were keyboard lights and a momentarily fan spin that stopped.

I am unable to use my nitro 5 at all, I checked external monitors, no signal. I unplugged battery and cmos both individually and simultaneously, nothing. I refit my ram, nothing. I followed through the entire battery reset process, nothing. All this was done while reverting back to my old m.2

My last two attempts is doing the battery reset process again which is being done as I write, and the last being completely leaving my battery outside for the night before testing it again in the morning before deciding to go to a repair shop. I got no hope for my last two tries to work.

I am HIGHLY confident that nothing is broken, cause there is no sense in anything breaking at all after a m.2 swap.

My only two viable solutions is anything to do with the battery reset button and the magnetic lid possibly keeping my display closed, I had a friend test their laptop connected to a TV while simulating closed lid and it did not replicate, so that's a possible theory.

I pray that someone will answer and help me solve this and not leave the last thread related to this problem with no solution or a conclusion. I really need to fix this cause I cannot afford another laptop and I need it for my school work.

Last thing, is it possible that the lid sensor can be unplugged so that the display stays on? It's possible that the sensor thinks the lid is closed and I want to bypass that safely.

Thank you all for the help.

    FINAL UPDATE:

Motherboard is dead, repaircost is valued at around 400 euros. Final cause unknown, probably model defects. I refuse to believe that the simple act of not having disconnected the battery resulted in complete death of my motherboard since I have operated on it before with battery on. Thanks Acer, I knew picking this model was a risk in terms of heat issue and you have succeeded.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience.   Please try the basic steps first..

Doing the power drain and bios defaults will really help.  Kindly follow the steps given below:

Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug  the charger cable, devices or any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, you can find a  pin hole. It is a tiny hole. You can a find a battery symbol indicator next to the hole. It is like a + and - sign symbol as though somebody is trying to shift the battery out. Insert the pin on to the hole for 30 seconds. Remove the pin. Flip the laptop. Connect the charger cable, turn on the computer.  Only on laptops where the battery is inbuilt you can find the battery reset hole on the back of laptop.

If you dont find a pin hole on the back of laptop then you might be using removable battery. There is no need to unscrew anything to remove the battery.  Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug  the charger cable, devices and any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, please look at the top or bottom depending on the way you look at it. You can find a long door. It is a battery removable door.  Just below that you can find a latch.  If you move the latch you can remove the battery door. Once the battery is removed,  flip the laptop. Open the top cover, press and hold the power button for 1 minute. Connect the battery back on the back of computer. Connect the charger cable back and then turn on the computer.

If you don’t see a reset pin hole on the back of laptop or if you are not able to remove the battery (if it is inbuilt ) then please unplug all the cables and devices out of laptop.   Hold the power button for 1 minute.   Connect all the cables back and restart the computer.

While turning on the computer, tap f2. It  will go to bios. Press f9  once. It will show load bios defaults with a yes or no popup. Press enter. Popup screen will disappear.  Press f10 once. It will show save changes popup with yes or no. Press enter. Computer will restart and it will load into windows.

It might also be the issue with battery, charger or power outlet.   Try to use the charger in a different room on a different power outlet.  Try to bypass the surge protector and connect it directly to power outlet.    Try to use an alternative charger if possible.    Try to turn on the computer without the charger and check it  ( as long as the battery is not drained out )

I have already done the battery reset process, my f2 key is broken and I'm pretty sure there is no keyboard input being detected cause pressing fn + keyboard light does not disable the lights. I have booted both with and without charger. I don't know how to bypass the surge protector and I have tried different outlets. Battery is fully charged.

Wait, I decided to read up on fast startup, I disabled that long ago. I specifically remember how my task manager would show boot up time to last over 24hours, Googling revealed that was because of fadt startup and I disabled that.

This button does not exist in my model, it seems to have been left empty. I know that button is meant to disable the laptop while the case is open and I have tried everywhere to find my models safeguard measure but I didn't find it. I can only assume that the screws are the safeguard but all screws are on correctlym

UPDATE: visited the best reviewed tech shop that I ever found.

He told me immediatly that it could be bios problem and nothing to do with the motherboard. Probably got corrupted. He said there is a slight chance of fixing it and it will take some days, he gave me a good price and I accepted it.

I guess for now, the only conclusion is a bios corruption and bring it to a good technician to fix it. Good thing this guy I found has been working 10 years with no more than 3 bad karen reviews
