Spin 3 SP314-54N microphone not recognized in headphone jack

I have a new Spin 3 SP314-54N and I've just noticed that it does not recognize the microphone of my headset plug in the 3.5mm jack.
The jack is listed as a headphone/mic combo, and headphones work perfectly, but no mic. According to the Windows sound settings it's not recognized when plugged in. So far I have checked for driver updates and such, but no luck. I've tried a couple different headsets to be sure it wasn't a bad plug or something.
Anyone have had similar issues or know a fix? Many thanks.

    Hi @SkyStryker,

Is the mic in the headset works when you connect with other device.

I have tried the uninstall device method and refreshed it, and I have confirmed that the headsets I'm testing work on other devices.

If you right click the sound icon at lower right on the taskbar, then choose Sound Settings, what does it show for the input device normally? What does it show when the headset is plugged in?

It shows the integrated microphone as the default. When the headset is plugged in, headphones show up as an audio output, but input remains the same

Acer laptops don't separate headset mic --- it will be lumped with the laptop internal mic.

Set it as headset in either Realtek HD Audio Manager or Realtek Audio Console, then lightly tap your headset mic --- the signal meter should jump (which means your headset mic is working).

My internal mic is handled by Intel apparently, not Realtek. So here's a pic of my sound settings. It looks the same regardless if the headset is plugged in or not. My headset has a long cord, so I turned the listen setting on and stood far away, but it seems only the internal mic is catching anything.

The first time you plugged your headset in, Windows popped up a requestor asking what it was. You likely selected headphones and told it to not ask again, so it disabled the mic for you...

Hi, I'm having the same issue as @SkyStryker. Could one of you please provide me with a trusted source where I can download Realtek Audio Console and Realtek HD Audio Manager.

I'm on Realtek's official website and when I go to download Realtek HD Audio Manager, it just comes up with many files not labelled as what I'm looking for. Do any of you know which one contains Realtek HD Audio Manager?
