Hello.
Today, I tried to install Linux mint 18 Cinnamon on my acer nitro 5.
It detects the USB and boots from it. I come to a menu, and select start cinnamon (normally, it boots live from the disk and I can install from there), and it just turns black.
The image and boot medium is good. tried it on another computer.
I also tried to intall kali, but it does not detect the linux partition (cause I want to run linux as main and windows as secondary)

As in the installer can't see the disk, or can't see a partition on the disk?

What's your full model number, you probs need to change the disk mode if it's an Intel laptop. Hit cntrl+s in the UEFI as the first thing you press, then look for either sata mode, RST or VMD controller

If it's sata mode it needs to be ahci, if it's RST or vmd it needs to be off

Which same problem? The black screen is probably kernel setting which need tweaking, missing disk should be fixed with the drive mode :)
