Light sensor on XV272UKV: Always to dark on every "LightSense" level

Hi there,

on my Acer Nitro XV2 XV272UKV the screen is set to a very low brightness setting when I turn on LightSense in the OSD. During daytime the setting is always too dark for me, not matter which level I choose (1 to 3). The monitor is placed in front of a window.

The firmware update 4B01 did not help. It actually made it worse.

    Hi somm,

    1. Power OFF the unit.
    2. Unplug all the cables.
    3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
    4. Turn ON the unit and check.

Hi @Easwar! Thanks for your help! Unfortunately, this did not fix the issue. The brightness level on all three settings is still too low (and in fact almost identical on all levels).

    Hi somm,

What cable are you using VGA or HDMI ?

DP for my PC, HDMI for my Mac. Problem occurs on both connections.

I do see a slight difference in brightness between level 1 and level 2/3 though.

Is there anything obstructing the sensor? If it's not seeing light it will think your room is always really dark.

Hi @billsey! No. Also, the sensor does work. If I obstruct it with my hand, the screen gets brighter. The problem is that neither of the three levels provide enough brightness in a scenario where the monitor is placed in front of the window with daylight outside.

Hmm, it may be that 400 cd/m² just isn't enough to overpower that back light. Perhaps a shade of some sort to dim the light from the window?

Yeah, during daylight this seems to be the only solution. Too bad. Because during night time the sensor works great.
