I have purchased a new EB321HQU monitor. It is plugged into my laptop via HDMI, but my audio is going through an external mixer. I cannot seem to get audio to play through the monitor's built in speakers via the 3.5mm jack. Am I missing something?

Hi @Balatekie, thanks for your response. The HDMI audio works perfect fine, however I am trying to get audio through the 3.5mm input rather than the HDMI connection.
Hi @billsey, this model has both an audio out (green ring) and an audio in (blue ring). When I plug a cable into the audio in it does cut off my HDMI audio, as it should, but the audio from the 3.5mm line in does not play through the speakers.
Thanks for that explanation @Joe9844, any idea why the the input jack is designed to cut the HDMI audio when the 3.5mm jack is plugged in while also refusing the play the audio through that jack?
Acer monitors are usually designed to ignore any 3.5mm audio input cable when it is using HDMI video input cable.
Since you also directed your laptop to use 3.5mm audio line out to your external mixer --- so your HDMI video cable doesn't carry any audio signal anymore. 1+1 = your monitor doesn't have any sound.
@Joe9844 I see what you mean. My pc's audio output is set to the mixer via it's USB connection. I'm running the mixer headphone-out to the monitor's audio in, not the pc. The mixer's headphone out is confirmed live, but the monitor doesn't push the audio signal.
Additionally, if the pc is set to HDMI audio, plugging the 3.5mm into the audio in cuts the HDMI off (as expected), however there is no situation in which the monitor plays audio sent through the audio input.
